malaise: is a state in which there is smtg wrong with society and people feel dissatisfied or unhappy but do not know exactly what is wrong.

witty and disturbing at the same time. The head that would float away like a balloon if you didn't have a firm grip on it - the schism between body and mind, thinking and sensing .. The fuzzy background adds to your interpretation of the state you mention. I didn't know what this state was called by the way - thanks, I'm probably going to use it a lot, hehe.

Ahh Generation X, living in a society that was once highly moral which has become amoral, secular, disjointed and thoroughly post modern.
The malaise that you mention is akin to alienation; a lack of belief or desire to paticipate actively in society. The feeling of being an outsider, a kind of anomie, which is emotional but has it's roots in dysfunctional social relationships......... blah blah blah
